Tutoring
We serve students in grades K-8 with school-based tutoring. In addition to in-school tutoring, we provide a range of services at our Center office in Eureka. This includes our one-on-one summer tutoring program, access to our computer lab and tutoring for American Indian students from other schools in our service area.
Academic support with a connection to culture
Tutoring is the most direct way we have found to improve students academic success. We measure student achievement both during the academic year and at the end of the year by collecting their report cards, test scores and by consulting with their teachers.
In our tutoring program we target American Indian students who are working below grade level in one or more subjects. Our tutoring services are closely integrated with the schools we serve. Tutors work closely with teachers to select students for our program and to determine their individual tutoring needs. We provide culturally appropriate materials for student and teacher use.
